REAL PEOPLE

People of the world!
Is this my voice, my tiny arrogant voice?
Or could it be the silent, inner voice of reason,
Of common sense and of all the world?
Has not time enough gone by now?
For many centuries religion has been their toy

Has been their weapon

It’s time for real people
Stand over here with me

Do we really need a book to tell us what not to do?

Who not to kill? What not to steal? To respect what’s yours?

Why not to cheat? Why not to lie? What not to eat?

To not go to war? To look ahead to a forgiving breed

To a brand new creed, a united race?

Real people, a society of real people
We need a society of real,

Society of real people, people, people

...and their words, they love their words
Everything has to be spiritual

Everything has to be your fault, your fault
They tempt you with heaven

They threaten you with hell, so you can never be free
I don’t want to hear about your faith
Your fear of others divides you for eternity
We’ve got no colour, we’ve got no shape
And we’ve got no clothes

I can see right through those lies and I will not compromise

I may not be quiet for so-called peace
And if I accept just one false thing, then my soul will slowly die
Are you these things?
Thought they will hate you they may even kill you
You will always rise
